WIFI Aided Indoor Navigation Versatile Robot

Antariksh Anand, Yogita Gigras, Anuradha Dhull

Abstract

This paper presents deployment strategies of ultrasonic sensors & wifi routers to help mobile robot navigation in indoor environments. There are critical needs for reliable and fairly accurate solution to meet the demands of indoor robotic applications. Ultrasonic sensors have been popular in detecting simple objects due to the low cost and simplicity despite their limitations. The efficient way of the sensor deployment & appropriate algorithm shows a possibility of developing a low-cost indoor mobile robotics platform for college education & research laboratories. The study related to finding the shortest or optimal path in terms of cost, space or time from a source to a destination from among several possible paths is known as path planning and there are various algorithms discovered for it so far which include artificial intelligence or nature inspired algorithms.
