Classification of Maize Leaf Diseases using Color Moments

Abstract


In agricultural Management of field Disease improves quality & productivity. For management of disease, it needs to be detected at early stage. Because of advances in the technologies now a days it is possible to use the images of diseased leaf to detect the type & severity of disease. This can be achieved by extracting features from the images which can be further used with classification algorithms or content based image retrieval systems. In this paper color of the image is used to extract the features of images by calculating various color moments. These Color moments are measures that can be used to differentiate images based on their features of color. The proposed work in this paper uses 1st ,2nd & 3rd order moment of color which gives the value of mean, variance & skewness of the color image . Total 9 features for each image are obtained. Further the distance between the moment features of index image & all test images is calculated.
