Abstract

Modeling and Simulation of voltage and power compensation was carried out for Yahe-Ugep 33kV feeder in Port Harcourt Electricity Distribution Company (PHEDC), Nigeria. This feeder crisscrosses three states with a route length of 500km, a huge voltage drop at the receiving end resulting to lots of technical and commercial losses. Using PSCAD-EMTDC to model and Simulate the network with series capacitor and 50% degree of compensation, the voltage and power along the line was boosted.  With improved power quality on the line, equipment failure would be reduced, customers are satisfied and more revenue generation for PHEDC.
