An Analysis of Dye Sensitized Solar Cell Properties of TiO2/SnO2 Semiconductor

P. Cheese, E. Tucker, I. Ross

Abstract

Over the past 20 years, a lot of research and development activity on these devices has helped DSSC reach the level of deployable technology. DSSC is recognized as a cost-effective and easy-to-manufacture photovoltaic device because it can be processed at ambient temperatures, is compatible with roll-to-roll processing, and can be manufactured on transparent and flexible substrates. The highest light conversion efficiency (h) (~13%) reported in DSSC is half that of modern crystalline or thin-film solar cells (27.6% and 26.4%, respectively), still due to their unique features. So, you can choose. Due to the transparency and color options offered by the photosensitizer, DSSC can be used to build integrated photovoltaic cells (BIPV) and automotive integrated photovoltaic cells (AIPV). It also performs well in low or scattered light, making it superior to other categories of solar power in indoor electronic equipment, shaded areas and cloudy weather applications. DSSC is simple to manufacture. We determined that more investment was needed to reduce the restructuring of TiO2/SnO2 and make it a DSSC efficiency record holder.
