Power Quality Improvement by Using Dynamic Voltage Restorer

Dr. Vodapalli Prakash

Abstract

The distribution network practically having various types of loads with wide variety   of complex in nature. Different categories of users facing many issues, when using different types of devices. Most of the devices are employing latest power electronic technology based devices create power quality issues.   In these lines, Dynamic Voltage Restorer (DVR) is one of the best custom devices used as an efficient technique for the protection of sensitive loads against voltage perturbances in the distribution system. The effectiveness of the DVR depends on the performance of the technique supported in switching the inverters. This work concentrates on the hysteresis control mechanism.  To observe the quality of the load voltage during working of DVR, Total Harmonic Distortion (THD) evaluated using the simulation in MATLAB.
