Integrated Dual Output Buck Boost Converter for Medium Power Applications

Divya Venugopalan, C. Reshma Raj

Abstract

Now a days research on Multi Output converters are progressive and Single Input Multiple Output (SIMO) market is emerging day by day. This is because in most of the fields such as industries, telecommunication, plug in hybrid electric vehicle etc there are auxiliary circuits in addition to the main power circuit. The existing SIMO dc to dc converter in present market face many problems like increased cost, bulkiness, complexity in the control, reduced reliability, inaccuracy in the precise regulation of outputs etc. To mitigate these challenges a new topology is developed by replacing the switch in the conventional boost converter by two series switches and a low pass filter taking from the node of the two switches. With this converter only N+ 1 switch are required for N outputs than 2N switches in the conventional SIMO dc to dc converter with individual dc to dc converter for different output voltages. In this converter additional circuit components are not required for cross regulation. These essentially reduce the bill amount. The precise regulation of the outputs is possible with suitable control system. The characteristics of the converter are done by MATLAB software and the simulation results validate the properties of the converter including cross regulation and line regulation.
