Design and Development of PIC Microcontroller Based Vehicle ‘Black Box’ and Monitoring System Using CAN Protocol

K. Kodeeswari, A. Parvathy

Abstract

A black box or a flight recorder is an electronic device in Aircrafts in facilitating the investigation of aviation accidents. This project is aimed at a similar model of above said black box in vehicles. By implementing CAN protocol using PIC microcontroller monitoring and coordinating different functions of a vehicle is done. Accident alert is the prime feature of this project which can be done with the help of GSM and GPS and monitoring of speed is also done using a speedometer. The other main feature of this project includes monitoring of Temperature, CO in exhaust, and Light due to spark or fire. The software part is done in MikroC Pro for PIC using embedded C. Schematic part is prepared using Proteus. Hardware is implemented and software porting is done.
