Operating Features of BIG- IP F5 Load Balancer
Abstract
In the business world where there are enormous requests from the user in accessing the applications and to provide high speed, availability, security, Big-IP F5 is used. Pools consist of pool members. Pool members consist of logical devices which represent physical nodes like web servers that are group together to receive and process traffic. Nodes are denoted by the IP address where the pool members are denoted by IP address and the services. The purpose of virtual servers is to distribute traffic across pool of servers that are mentioned on virtual server configuration. Persistence is defined as the method of distributing the client requests to the same server from where it was distributed previously. SSL certificate is a digit certificate which authenticates website identity and creates an encrypted link between web server and the browser. To maintain a redundancy both active and standby Big-IP F5 are connected and any changes on the active F5 needs to be synced in standby. To manage the status of pool, pool members and nodes on regular basis, health monitor is used when it observes the node is down, big-IP will stop sending traffic to the devices. To manage network traffic against F5, Irules are written in scripts to route, re-route, re-direct, and reject the network traffic.
