Crosstalk Due to XPM under the Impact of Higher Order Dispersion Parameters in SCM-WDM Link

Vishal Sharma, Jagvir Kaur, Amarpal Singh

Abstract

In this paper, an effort has been made for the
comprehensive investigation to ascertain the XPM-induced crosstalk in SCM-WDM communication system under the individual and combined impact of 2OD- and 3OD- coefficients at varied modulation
index, walk-off parameter, modulation frequency, average input optical power and optical span. It has been reported that the XPM-induced crosstalk rises exponentially with optical transmission span and modulator frequency under the under the individual and combined impact of 2OD- and 3OD- coefficients. But, the impact of
3OD is very low as compare to 2OD but there will be an impressive influence of 3OD in long-haul SCM-DWDM systems. Furthermore, the XPM-induced crosstalk decreases with decreases walk-off parameter and increases with increases modulation depth of analog signal. This work presents a detailed and improved investigation on
the impact of higher dispersion parameters in SCM-WDM link over XPM induced crosstalk which is not reported in previous research work.
