Coverage Prediction Modeling for Mobile Radio Systems Operating in 900 MHZ Frequency Range

Shampy Bhandari, Kiran Ahuja

Abstract

In this paper we had reported the comparison of Okumura and Hata extended prediction models in different environments at frequency 900 MHz on the basis of path loss vs. distance. Measurements were made to verify the models for open, sub urban and urban environments. A comparison between the Okumura model and Hata extended prediction model reveals that Okumura’s model is very accurate in cluttered environments, but responds slowly to rapid changes in terrain. The Hata extended model formulation makes the Okumura model much easier to use. It is mainly applicable to the transmissions inside cities.
