A Comparative Study and Simulation of Two Input DC-DC Converters using MATLAB/Simulink

A. Thiyagarajan, K. Sivakumar

Abstract

Nowadays, power electronic converters are necessary in renewable energy applications. The energy storage unit is one of the most important components in renewable energy system such as photo voltaic systems. In this paper, we discussed the two input DC-DC converter which is used in such energy storage unit to improve efficiency, performance and also to reduce cost, component count. Two input Buck-Buck dc-dc converters were designed through derivation by using H-bridge cells and Single Pole Triple Throw (SPTT) switch as building block. Realization of Switches and operating characteristics of the converters were obtained with their voltage transfer ratios. The performances of the converters are simulated using MATLAB/simulink. The output results were Compared and verified with theoretical Results.
