Mark G. Javillonar, Gerlie J. Boni, Darwin O. Aniar

Abstract

The leadership styles in any organization, such as financial institutions, are usually diverse due to the differences in the leaders' and employees’ backgrounds. This quantitative research was conducted to investigate the leadership styles used in financial institutions in the Municipality of Narra, in Palawan, Philippines, and determine its relationship with the socio-cultural diversity of employees. The sources of data for this study are the survey responses and the Human Resources file of the employees. The study proved that employees in both bank and non-bank financial institutions were diverse in terms of religion and ethnicity using descriptive and inferential statistics. At the same time, the leaders employ a directive leadership style. The employees’ profile does not correlate with the type of leadership styles used by the leaders. In contrast, the business leaders in a bank and non-bank financial institutions have no difference in the leadership styles in leading their respective organizations.
