Instigating Academic Data Governance (ADG) Model in Indian Higher Education Institutions for the Tenacity of Academic Data Protection

Abstract


Quality of data is very essential for taking right decision and those which come at the right time. The corporate world has taken this aspect very seriously. For the purpose they have developed and successfully adopted a concept called “Data Governance”. It governs the WHEN, WHO, WHERE and WHY of methodology responsibilities and rights of data handlers and users. The modern academic sector too boosts of huge amount of data related to academics, research, finance and literature which need to be properly handled and achieved for security purpose and distributed with utmost care. This paper describes a specially developed data governance model called “Academic Data Governance” (ADG) model and how it can be fitted into higher education institutions in India.
