An Enhanced Routing Algorithm in LEACH Protocol to Expand the Sensor Network Lifetime

Abstract


LEACH protocol of the protocols used to reduce the energy consumption of wireless sensor networks, the LEACH has a good ability to deal with the energy savings. But LEACH has some flaws that will treat them in this paper, For example, in LEACH protocol nodes choose cluster head closest and not appropriate, and therefore the nodes die quickly, also identical packets (matched) lead to energy consumption without utilized in the Base station. Represent in this paper improvements in routing algorithm in LEACH protocol, by incorporating the idea of SPIN protocol with LEACH protocol and the use of meta-data to determine mismatch packets, also node must be linked with the cluster head better, through simulation results proved that the improved protocol is better than the original protocol in reduce energy consumption and expansion of the network lifetime.
