Energy Efficient Routing Protocol for Wireless Ad-Hoc Networks

Zainab Khan, Mohammad Sarwar Raeen

Abstract

Energy conservation is of great importance for mobile ad hoc networks in which most nodes are equipped with limited energy sources. This paper presents a survey on energy efficient routing protocols for wireless Ad-Hoc networks. Survey focus on recent development and modifications in this widely used field. This discussion is centered on proposed power saving algorithms. By utilizing the inherent device heterogeneity, a cross-layer designed Device-Energy-Load Aware Relaying framework, named DELAR, to achieve energy conservation from multiple facets, including power-aware routing, transmission scheduling and power control is studied. Besides it this paper discuss about the conventional protocols and also see how these are modified to make these protocols energy efficient and what the shortcomings that have been resolved. Many unsettled problems need to be defined and solved in this area. It is firmly believed that this domain will greatly advance in the future. This evaluation may prove to be an essential step for the development and improvement of new techniques in this area.
