Abstract

In this paper, a compact design and construction of microstrip Ultra Wide Band (UWB) antenna is proposed. The proposed antenna has the capability of operating between 1.8GHz to 12GHz. Bandwidth enhancement is required for practical application of microstrip antenna for wireless communication. Enhanced bandwidth supports high speed of data communication. The antenna parameter in frequency domain analysis have been investigated to show its capability as an effective radiating element. The designed antenna has a compact size of 47mm * 36mm * 1.6 mm. The simulation results demonstrated good ultra wide band linear transmission performance. The highest efficiency claimed 92% at 2 GHz and minimum efficiency is 70%.The claimed bandwidth from proposed antenna is 2.1 GHz to 10 GHz that is 7.9 GHz. Bandwidth obtained with the proposed design is very good to incorporate all applications of UWB band.
