Local Patch Based Texture Synthesis

J. Anish Kumar, A. Adlin Arul

Abstract

A new algorithm is proposed to generate new textures
that look similar to the given sample texture. Texture synthesis is growing a sample texture to an infinite texture which looks visually similar to the sample texture. Texture synthesis is needed to seamlessly cover areas and surfaces with a texture. A large number of patch based texture synthesis algorithm have been developed. They
provide better result and the speed of the algorithm is quite high. This paper proposes a patch based texture synthesis approach along a spiral path. This algorithm searches for new matching patch among the neighborhood of the previous matched patch along a spiral path and this process is continued till the image is fully filled. Since the
search space is reduced, a synthesis speed-up is obtained. Thisapproach provides better quality and high speed of execution.Experiments result shows that this algorithm gives better quality.
