Design of High Speed Digitally Controlled SMPS by using QFET and ISA-PID in MSP-430
Abstract
The idea of the research work is to design a digitally
controlled SMPS using a high speed controller MSP-430.This works differs in the sense that MSP-430 can be able to generate high speed variably controlled PWM(Pulse Width Modulation) signal, that vary the frequency linearly with adequate resolution. This idea will replace the standard hard wired or digitally controlled MOSFET driver by a digitally controlled QFET technology. As MSP-430 is able to generate a dynamic PWM signal, it can also take feedback signal from SMPS and keep an eye on the current status of the SMPS.This feedback control is implemented in MSP-430 by using ISA-PID algorithm, which calculate an error value as a difference between a measured process variable and a desired setpoint [voltage in our case].The controller attempts to minimize the error by adjusting the process control input.
