Abstract

This paper presents a new wide input wide output (WIWO) DC-DC converter was designed with an integration of buck and boost converter via coupled inductors for power factor correction application. Here ,a sinusoidal line voltage is fed in to the rectifier input. The WIWO dc-dc converter can accept the rectified voltage and directly produce the required low dc output. With the line voltage greater than the output, the converter works in the buck mode. As the line drops below the output voltage ,WIWO enters the boost mode. Coherent working from stepping down to stepping up can be achieved by proper control scheme. Due to the coupled inductors, wide-step-up and wide-step-down dc-dc conversions are realized. Simulation results for 12 V - 48 V input to 28 V output dc-dc conversions and PFC application are carried by performing simulation.
