Digital Simulation of Thirty Bus System Using TCTC & STATCOM

S.D. Sundarsingh Jebaseelan, Dr.R. Raja Prabu

Abstract

This work deals with power quality improvement by using TCTC & STATCOM. When the reactive power of the load is changing continuously, a suitable fast response compensator is needed. STATCOM (Static Compensator) and TCTC (Thyristor controlled tap changer) are two such compensators belonging to FACTS devices. They are used in this work. Models for the STATCOM &TCTC (Thyristor tap changer) are developed using MATLAB simulink. Smooth reactive power control is achieved by varying the firing angle of TCTC system. The aim of this work is to model and simulate thirty bus system using simulink. The simulation results of thirty bus system with STATCOM & TCTC are presented.
